Let's Chat Medicine
What is Let’s Chat Medicine?
Let’s Chat Medicine is a five-day programme for 15–18 year olds that explores the science of personalised medicine through a mix of lab-based learning and creative communication.
The programme begins with two days at Systems Biology Ireland (UCD), where students learn about DNA, genes, and personalised healthcare. On the first day, participants use ABE Ireland materials to get hands-on with DNA extraction and build a solid foundation in molecular biology.
For the following three days, the group heads to Barretstown, where they work with artists and science communicators to turn what they’ve learned into creative projects such as artworks, performances, or digital media, designed to help others understand the science in an engaging way.
Let’s Chat Medicine is promoted through the ABE Ireland teacher network, and is open to Transition Year and senior cycle students with an interest in science, health or creativity. No prior experience is needed, just curiosity and enthusiasm!
