A teacher participating in the ABE program at Caritas College in Ballyfermot, Dublin, invited a local newspaper, the Echo, to report about the ABE program. The article appeared in the newspaper on March 17. The Amgen Biotech Experience workshop gave students a glimpse into studying biology at university and of some of the techniques used in a career in biotechnology.

ABE-Ireland staff attended the 2016 BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition in the RDS, Dublin on Thursday, 7th and Saturday, 9th January to give young science enthusiasts a chance to get hands-on with biomedical research equipment.

Over 250 children, parents and teachers got the opportunity to get to grips with the basics of microvolumetric pipetting and using DNA electrophoresis to solve an imaginary crime as part of the Amgen Biotech Experience (ABE) Ireland stand in the exhibition hall.

Amgen Biotech Experience (ABE) are now offering training in molecular biology experiments for secondary school teachers at locations in University College Dublin and Dublin City University during October. Teachers who take part in the training have access to professional grade scientific equipment and curriculum-linked teaching materials to teach these experiments to their students in school during the 2015/2016 academic year.
