Bioethics Research Conducted Within the Scope of the ABE Program Presented at the 6th International Ethics Congress!
The scientific research conducted as part of the Amgen Biotech Experience (ABE) Program was shared with the academic and educational community at the 6th International Ethics Congress. The study, titled “Self-Efficacy Scale for Bioethics Teaching: A Validity and Reliability Study,” was presented during the congress held on December 9, 2025, providing significant contributions to the existing literature.
The study was carried out by Elif Adıbelli Şahin, Gülşah Özkan İnal, and Assoc. Prof. Nilay Keskin Samancı.
The primary objective of this research is to develop a valid and reliable scale to measure teachers' self-efficacy levels regarding bioethics instruction. The developed measurement tool aims to assist in assessing teachers' pedagogical competencies in addressing ethical issues arising within the fields of biotechnology and genetic engineering.
Incorporating the ethical, social, and legal dimensions of rapid scientific advancements in biotechnology into educational processes is vital for enabling students to evaluate scientific developments through a critical and values-based lens. By helping to determine teachers' readiness for bioethics instruction, this study aims to support the improvement of teacher training programs and the reinforcement of bioethics education.
