Getting Hands-On with Biotechnology: A Transformative Experience for Educators
On 24th February 2024, over 20 educators gathered for ABE South Africa’s Professional Development Institute (PDI) event at Sci-Bono Discovery Centre, and what a transformative experience it was! Teachers had the opportunity to engage with biotechnology on a new level by working through Chapter 1: Some Tools of the Trade. They rolled up their sleeves and got to grips with Lab 1.1: How to Use a Micropipette and Lab 1.2: Gel Electrophoresis—experiments that left many of them eager to bring this science back to their classrooms. We’re so proud of the enthusiasm and dedication shown by these educators, and can’t wait to see how they inspire their students with these new skills!
