Life Center ABE Project Teacher Class Training Activity Successfully Completed in June 2024
Life Center promotes the cultivation of cutting-edge talents through cutting-edge scientific research, and has taken the initiative to undertake social public affairs and public welfare education since its inception.Strive to enhance the level of popular science awareness and scientific spirit of the whole society. In addition to sharing the latest scientific research achievements of the Life Center,In 2021, the Life Center introduced the Amgen Biotech Experience of Global Experimental Popular Science Project (hereinafter referred to as "ABE").
In order to better promote the development of biology teaching and research in Beijing, and even promote the improvement of the education and teaching concept of biology in the whole country,Play the role of radiation,This year, the Life Center reached an agreement with the Basic Education and Teaching Research Center of the Beijing Academy of Educational Sciences (hereinafter referred to as the "Basic Education and Research Center of the Academy of Educational Sciences")Strategic cooperation. June 15-16, 2024,Twenty-two senior high school biology teachers from 15 districts and 22 middle schools in Beijing completed a 1.5-day course experience.
At the opening ceremony on the morning of June 15, Professor Zhang Guiyou, an invited representative of the ABE project and former director of the Experimental Teaching Center of Tsinghua University, made a speech.Teachers are welcome to come to Tsinghua, an ancient building with a history of 100 years, to learn knowledge.Although biotechnology has been developing rapidly, the technology that is widely used now is what teachers will experience next.It is hoped that teachers can have a further understanding and thinking on how to better integrate the big and middle schools through learning.Then the director of the life center office,Dr. Jiang Yi, the project leader of ABE in mainland China, will have "facing middle school students", "simple experimental content" and "innovative students".The ABE project with the characteristics of "physical technology" was introduced to the students, hoping that this study could build a bridge for the project to enter the high school classroom.Let more students experience the charm of biological experiments in the future.

This course is led by Dr. Li Yaoxi, the backbone teacher of the Modern Life Science Experimental Teaching Center of Tsinghua University.The trainees completed plasmid extraction, enzyme digestion and electrophoresis detection, recovery of target nucleic acid fragments, detection and ligation of recovered nucleic acid fragments.Practical experience of PCR identification of transformed positive clones.The training content is rich, the course arrangement is compact, and the content is highly targeted. The project team is also waiting for the time to arrange for the trainees to visit the specimen museum.During the experiment, the trainees carried out extensive discussions and achieved the expected training objectives.You Fujin, a member of the teaching team, participated in this activity.
