The ABE Ireland team were delighted to partner again this year with the Junior Cycle for Teachers Support Service led by Aine Woods and her team.  The global theme for STE(A)M in Junior Cycle 2020 is ‘SOLUTION GENERATION’ and the premise is to empower young people to think, choose and innovate in ways that will enhance and sustain our communities into the unknown tomorrow.

Cuala Academy Day Blog Image 1

The Amgen Biotech Experience Ireland team were invited to take part in an academy coaching morning (https://www.cualagaa.ie/coaching-morning-for-academy/) with Cuala Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club on Saturday, 05 October, 9am–12.30pm on the Thomastown pitches.

There were 600 children aged 6–9 years old registered for the event and braving the elements on a fresh Autumn morning. The ABE Ireland team introduced pipetting skills to this young audience using food dyes and plastic bulb pipettes in a modified sun-catcher activity.

The Amgen Biotech Experience Ireland team were invited to participate in the St Patrick’s Festival in Merrion Square, Dublin on March 18 as part of the Science Foundation Ireland sponsored arena. They were joined by UCD researchers and staff from Systems Biology Ireland and UCD Conway Institute. This year, more than 600 people got involved in a range of research related activities in our dedicated exhibition tent space.
