14 September - PDI: Introduction to Lab 2 plasmids and CSI Dog Drool Activity

We are excited to announce the next session in our Professional Development Institute (PDI) series: Lab 2 - Clone that Gene and an exciting CSI Dog Drool Activity! This interactive workshop is designed to provide educators with hands-on experience in biotechnology concepts that they can take back to their classrooms.

Participants will explore the fascinating world of plasmids, small DNA molecules that play a critical role in genetic engineering. Through practical lab work, educators will learn how to manipulate and analyze plasmids, gaining valuable insight into their applications in biotechnology.

In addition to the plasmid work, we’ll dive into a fun and forensic-inspired activity: CSI Dog Drool. Using DNA analysis techniques like gel electrophoresis, educators will solve a fictional crime by examining DNA from simulated dog drool, offering a creative and engaging way to understand how biotechnology is used in real-world forensic investigations.

This session promises to equip educators with new skills, creative ideas, and innovative methods for teaching biotechnology in the classroom. Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity!
